Longisquama and Podopteryx

Longisquama (Longisquama insignis), a reptile that lived during the early Triassic Period (240 million years ago) in what is now Kyrgyzstan. From the one poorly preserved, incomplete fossil available, scientists have deduced that Longisquama had long structures growing from its skin. Here the artist envisions these as a dorsal crest, warning off a gliding Podopteryx (Podopteryx mirabilis), an early gliding reptile.
